Coniston Cold Field Book, stamped with receipts from Tithe Commissioners, 1840-1841

[Following the Tithe Act of 1836, which provided for the commutation of tithe into a tithe rent-charge where this had not already been effected, details of landowners and occupiers and descriptions of lands were required by the Tithe Commission to confirm the amounts being paid. The tithe map to include Coniston Cold was drawn up by John Greenwood in 1838-1839. The tithe apportionment, which covered the townships in the parish of Gargrave (Gargrave, Bank Newton, Eshton, Flasby with Winterburn as well as Coniston Cold) is dated 1843.]
