Sale particulars of the Malham estate, 1850

The Malham estate was put up for sale in 1850 and in 1852 it was sold to James Morrison of Basildon Park, Berkshire, a millionaire former draper. One of his sons, Walter Morrison, inherited the estate on his 21st birthday. He carried on the Lister legacy of estate improvements and planted thousands of trees.
In 1946 estate was passed to the National Trust and the House was leased as a field studies centre.
